Resilience through local supply chains

Daymer Ingredients was delighted to participate in the IFST Autumn Conference in October last year.

Our contribution included a short presentation on Managing Resilience in Ingredient Supply Chains. As was all too predictable back then, less than 6 months after the event, those risks are coming to fruition.

The impact on availability on industrial raw materials caused by escalating tensions in the Middle East will be felt globally. Food inflation is likely to increase and in a cost-of-living crisis, it is not welcome news.

At Daymer we believe in strong partnerships with our suppliers. It helps keep our prices competitive and product mix fresh. We also preferentially source regionally, not necessarily chasing the cheapest imports we can find.

We operate transparently – we do not repack – we do not blend two or more simple components.

Every ingredient we supply comes in the original manufacturer’s packaging against its original product specification and associated certificates of analysis or conformance, all under strong compliance to the BRGCS Agents & Brokers Standard.

Our potato starch, modified potato starch, modified maize starch and maltodextrin are all sourced from our dedicated Supply Partners in Europe whom we hold formal agreements with.

The Danish potatoes for KMC potato ingredients are all from Denmark

The corn for Omnia Europe’s modified maize starch comes from local growers around Constanta, Romania

Both their supply chains are tight and effective, and they both demand the same of us as their partners in the UK and Irish markets.

We have stock of core modified starch lines in the UK stored under BRCGS complaint standards and can offer fixed stockholding for customer call-off or volume contracts as required.

Potato Starch & Modified Starch

KMC produce potato starch, modified starch, protein, fibre, granules and flakes in Denmark. They are the largest food-industry dedicated potato starch company in the world.

With a low-environmental footprint, strong local governance and soil conditions particularly suited for starch potato farming, KMC offer our customers a fresh approach to their potato ingredient requirements.

Potato ingredients are allergen and GMO free. By sourcing regionally in Europe and stocking locally in the UK, we can provide a strong continuity of supply at competitive, stable price points.
